Attention FRO Passholders: Darkwater Trail Closure Aug 27-30, 2026
Dear FRO Riders,
Please be advised that the Darkwater Trail System will be closed to general riding beginning Thursday, August 27, through Sunday, August 30 for Hillbilly Paydayz.
Event Location: 1 East Darkwater Road, Pottsville, PA
During the closure, Darkwater will be reserved exclusively for registered Hillbilly Paydayz participants, event staff, vendors, and authorized personnel.
Darkwater will reopen to regular riders on Monday, August 31, at 7:00 AM.
All other Famous Reading Outdoors trail systems will remain open for regular riding, including:
- Ashland
- Burma
- Locust Gap
- Tower City
Important Event Check-In Information
Anyone attending Hillbilly Paydayz is strongly encouraged to purchase tickets and complete the required waiver online before arriving.
Cellular and internet service can be limited at Darkwater, and a high volume of onsite registrations may slow down check-in and create traffic backups at the entrance. Completing your registration and waiver beforehand will help keep traffic moving and allow you to enter the event with less waiting.
Please do not attempt to enter the Darkwater Trail System during the closure unless you are attending Hillbilly Paydayz. Follow all posted signs, barriers, and instructions from event personnel.
