🚧 REMINDER – CROSSING ANY STREETS 🚧

We wanted to send out a reminder as it relates to crossing any street or two-lane highway and the operation of atvs, utvs, side by sides and similar vehicles (collectively “ATVs”) by minors. As a general rule, all drivers must be at least 16 years of age to operate ATVs and to cross any street, road, or two-lane highway on our trail systems.

As set forth in DCNR’s website, an ATV, UTV, side by side, or other off-road vehicle as an ATV in 75 Pa.C.S.A. 7702 may make a direct crossing of a street or two-lane highway provided:

The crossing is made at an angle of approximately 90 degrees to the direction of the highway, and at a place where no obstruction prevents a quick and safe crossing
The ATV is brought to a complete stop before crossing the shoulder or highway
The driver yields the right-of-way to all oncoming traffic that constitutes an immediate hazard
In crossing a divided highway, the crossing is made only at an intersection of such highway with another public street or highway
Driver must be at least 16 years of age unless he has a safety certificate and is under the direct supervision of a person at least 18 years of age. Please note that any driver under the age of 16 must be with an adult and have a safety certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a valid and approved certificate issued under the authority of another state.
All drivers of ATVs on FRO Property must be at least 16 years of age unless the driver is under the direct supervision of a person at least 18 years of age and has a safety certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a valid and approved certificate issued under the authority of another state.
