Famous Reading Outdoors’ Labor Day Camp & Ride Weekend returns September 4–7, 2026, featuring The Lost Miner’s Expedition—an interactive trail adventure inspired by Pennsylvania’s anthracite mining history.
Spend the holiday weekend camping, trail riding, exploring, and following the journal entries left behind by a miner known as Kit. Each discovery will reveal another piece of his story—and guide you farther into the expedition.

The Lost Miner’s Expedition
Throughout the weekend, riders can follow Kit’s journey across the Darkwater trails.

- The Journal Hunt – Discover Kit’s journal entries and use the clues and coordinates to locate the next stop in his story.
- Find the Canary – Keep your eyes open for the hidden miner’s canary.
- Expedition Discoveries – Explore themed locations connected to Kit’s journey.
- Photo Opportunities – Capture your crew’s experience along the expedition route.
These activities are designed to complement your regular trail-riding weekend, allowing your crew to explore the expedition at its own pace.
